Sunflower Elementary

“Challenge, cooperation, caring and citizenship build a community of lifelong learners”

Built in 1994, Sunflower Elementary School sits on 15 acres of land in southwest Lawrence adjacent to the Southwest Junior High School campus. School district officials utilized community input during the naming process, and the inspiration for the name came from the sunflower field which formerly existed at the site where the school now is located. Sunflower Elementary serves 473 students in grades K-6.
