Southwest Middle School

Southwest Middle School was built in 1994 in response to the rapid growth which occurred in the west and southwest areas of the city in the early 1990s. The school opened its doors for classes in the fall of 1995. It’s located on 21.2 acres of land and is the fourth junior high school in the school district. Current enrollment is 653 students in grades 7-9. As a cluster site, Southwest Middle School provides English as a Second Language services to junior-high age English Language Learners.

Did You Know? Southwest Middle School, host of a Solar 4R Schools project, earned the Governor’s Renewable Energy Recognition for its work to provide the school and community with a demonstration solar panel system and for taking a leadership role in addressing energy issues and information about renewable energy in its curriculum.
