Brenda Johnston came to Lawrence in 1985 and never wanted to leave. Her first job in town was as a waitress at the Woolworth’s lunch counter in Downtown Lawrence while studying theatre design at The University of Kansas.

Most of her professional life has been spent in sales, marketing and retail management. She has sold everything from cross-country skis to durable medical devices for Medicare recipients and with infinite variety in between. Brenda believes that the key to successful selling is to be honest, be up front, be available, and be positive. She feels that these are the keys to a successful life as well.

Brenda lives in the Prairie Park Neighborhood with her fella Robert, her 13 year old daughter Lucy and two cats (The Divine Miss Whiskers and Jake). She loves to cook homemade meals with Rob, Chiefs football, a good craft beer and interesting conversation.

She has served as a board member of The Lawrence Women’s Network, The Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and Co-Chair of The Chamber Lawrence Envoy Committee.

“During Covid, I have been sewing and donating masks to local nonprofits including, The Willow Shelter, VNA, Bert Nash, and Heartland Healthcare. I have also volunteered for many other local charities, The Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, Independence Inc, The Children’s Shelter and The Ballard Center.”
